Five Kubang Pasu Umno members today (Sept 29, 2006) lodged complaints with their party disciplinary board, alleging money politics and inteference by outsiders.

The five, all delegates to the division's Sept 11 annual general meeting, filed their official complaints at the party headquarters in Menara Dato' Onn at 10.30am.

Their complaints were received by the board's secretary, Jamaluddin Aziz.

The five, led by Aminuddin Omar from the Kampung Lembah Arang, also met Umno executive secretary, retired Brig-general Datuk Husainay Hashim after lodging their complaints.

In his report, Aminuddin alleged tthere were "elements of money politics, involvement of officers from the government departments and agencies and individuals campaigning against (former premier) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the recent delegates election."

Mahathir had since claimed that his failure to secure one of the seven Kubang Pasu delegates' seat to attend the Umno General Assembly in November was due to bribery and money politics.

In a press conference, Mahathir provided evidence by showing a piece of paper, given in a brown envelope also containing RM200 to delegates asking to vote only for certain people.

Mahathir also produced a piece of paper in the envelope asking delegates to vote candidates according the ballot list 2, 3, 4, 7, 8,11,14. But the number 14 was not elected and instead, his son, Datuk Mukhriz, was elected.

Mahathir said: "I saw the candidates numbers and true enough, the numbers on the list were the ones that won. This is the honour of the Malays - worth RM200."
