The door for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to return to Umno is closed.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad said the Anwar matter was discussed in today's four-hour-long party Supreme Council meeting chaired by president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
"The decision to shut the door on Anwar is to diffuse talks that certain people are trying to lobby for his return.
"To end speculations, the council discussed and agreed that he (Anwar) will never be allowed to return (to Umno)," he added.
Asked again to reconfirm the matter, Radzi said: "Anwar's return is period."
When pointed out that Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah had one time gone against the party and was accepted back, he said: "That was before the party's constitution was amended in 2002 which states that those who quit the party or went against the party will not be allowed to return to Umno."
Radzi spoke to reporters after the party meeting.
Earlier in a post-council media briefing, Abdullah said the recently concluded Ijok by-election was discussed in length and "we have decided to conduct a detailed post-mortem on the by-election.
"The issues raised by the people in Ijok will also be studied thoroughly."
Asked what were the pointers that could be used from the by-election that can be used to make improvements for the people, Abdullah said: "All the issues will also be studied by Barisan Nasional and the coalition will look into how to improve for the people."
On the Chinese swing of votes for the Opposition in Ijok, he said BN will ask MCA to look into the matter and identify the reasons.
"We will find out the causes for the Chinese swing (to the Opposition). There must be a cause."
Asked whether the victory would prompt him to call for a snap general election, Abdullah said: "We are always ready for a general election. But the only question is when."
